Yes, I've been away and I am truly sorry for the hiatus.
I've been wanting to post about Umai-Ya for the longest time,
but until tonight I have not had the privilege of doing so.

Here it is, Umai-Ya located in Uptown, Damansara.
I went there some time back for the Buffet lunch
who invited Esther and I.
It was seriously a blast-
we tucked in to awesome food and had the pleasure
of meeting and dining with some lovely people.
What's so awesome about the buffet?
Firstly, the food is not spread out for you like
in normal buffets but rather, you order what you want.
I like that.

"Sumimasen... can we have 30 slices of salmon,
some maguro, shiro maguro, and tako..?
Also, the spider roll, the beek yakkiniku, dragon roll,
beef tepanyaki....greentea ice-cream.."
And the food came.

Here's some of what we ate

Shing Yee: "The salmon is soooo good, I'm going to cry!!!"
JC: Me too!
=)

Danny New =)
Thanks for inviting EK and I man!
=)
Oh boy was the salmon good.

The Salmon was so fresh and it was cut so nice and thick!
I rarely find Salmon this fresh during a Jap buffet.
And i was surprised they gave us the Salmon Belly cut!

We ordered ALOT of sashimi.....

...there was so much i ate it with the beef kebab!
We loved it.

I ♥ miso soup =)

And the green tea ice-cream was FANTASTIC!
I give it 8/10. I ♥ it!!!!!!
Overall, the:-
salmon, greentea ice-cream and beef teppanyaki was ♥.
The maki was not bad as well.
The only unsatisfactory item was the maguro (fresh red tuna)
which i found to be less than fresh. I am very particular
about maguro being very fresh.
Nonetheless, the shiro maguro (butter tuna) was fresh
so your got top marks for that. ♥
If you ♥ salmon sashimi & green tea ice-cream
i will strongly recommend Umai-Ya.
=)

Shing Yee with the bill

It's so nice to see everything charged as 0.
=D
24 green tea ice-cream???
It was that good.
=)
Some photos of Shing, JC, Ek and myself after.

Wow! What a food heaven!
wow, that's a lot of sashimi!
I personally love salmon sashimi... maybe I should visit this place someday...
So did you have to pay 300 bucks for the buffet?
wow.. the salmon looks very fresh. Some more it was only prepared when you order it. Thanks for sharing. Will go try it out. = )
Hey.. sorry I was really busy the last few days.
Yoon See, you are right. It was almost heavenly =)
Ihsan, since you love salmon sashimi I would recommend Umai-Ya. Of all the Japanese Buffets I've been too, they have the best salmon sashimi.
It is 49.90+ for the lunch buffet, and there were 6 of us so the bill came to about 300 with tax. It's worth it, i'd say.
Dragon City, it WAS really fresh and good! Yep I really liked the fact that you order the food...it really redefines Jap Buffet. I was a big fan of Tenji (Jap Buffet in Solaris) -went there 4 times but I think this was a better dining experience..
Although Tenji has great variety and the ambience, and Umai-Ya's menu is relatively simple, the food was really fresh..
It was a simple satisfying and relaxing meal.
